![]() I figure next I should probably try installing Audio drivers off of MSI's website, but I have strong doubts this will solve the issue. I'm beginning to think the issue may be with the Audio Jack (or the Sound Card) itself. So next I try logging into Linux: I have full control of updates, and last I was using it both ears for the headphones were fine. So, I figured maybe there's a chance it could be driver problems (afterall, Windows doesn't even recognizer my Headphones are plugged in!). I also had Windows troubleshoot the RealTek Audio Driver, and the Driver is up-to-date according to Windows. I have also found that RealTek Audio Manager is not installed on Windows (and I believe it was before, can't confirm). I checked my Audio settings, and I find that Windows Volume Mixer does NOT detect my headphones are plugged in and shows Speakers are being used! This is very strange, as when headphones are plugged in, the audio in the left ear is just fine and there is no sound coming out of the speakers! Device Manager does not show Headphones nor Microphone under Audio inputs and outputs. At the time this occurred, I was in Windows, so I began investigating to see if the issue was perhaps Windows-related. I should also explain that I have a dual-boot setup: I have Windows 10 and a Linux distribution called Linux Mint. I then tried both on another PC: sound in both ears! I also tested the speakers on the Laptop: audio for them is just fine. ![]() I figured maybe the headphones were the problem, so I switched to a pair of earbuds. Its tolerable, but there is no sound (aside from the static) coming from the right ear, while the left ear is just fine. There is a noticable static in the right ear of the headphone (not as bad as the initial static before). I unplug my Headphones and plug it back in. I'm mentioning this annecdote in case it may be relevant for for the next part:įast forward to two days ago: I have my MSI SteelSeries Siberia 200 Gaming Headset plugged in and all of a sudden I hear a LOUD static in the right ear. Thankfully I was still under a 1-year warranty, so was able to send it to them and they got it fixed. I tried to manually push it back in, but no luck. and guess what happened? My headphones come out of the jack AS WELL AS what looked like the Audio Jack Conductor. I had plugged in wired headphones plugged into the audio jack and my cat accidentally jumped into the wire. In 2016 I had a major problem with the Audio Jack. Back in November 2015, I bought an MSI GE72 Apache Pro-242 ( 2QF I believe, not in front of it right now) from Xotic PC (wanted to mention the seller if anyone here has had difficulty with them in the past).
